What's new in Sollestro 3.1 Beta
Sollestro 3.1 Beta (version 3.1356) runs all of its video editing and photo selection AI on your computer. It is free for 30 days per key, installs beside Sollestro 3.0 and keeps its own settings and licence. Below are the main changes and earlier release milestones. If you need help with an update, send us the version number shown in Sollestro and your saved Log, or ask the Sollestro assistant.
- ImprovedStraighten Photos on the Photo page: With DaVinci Resolve 21.1.2 or later, choose a Photo page album, or a bin, and Sollestro levels each photo right on the Photo page, with a slight zoom that hides the corners. A bin first becomes an album named after it, in shooting order. Photos you have already turned, zoomed, cropped or flipped there are left as you set them, and Undo puts every photo back. With no Analysis Cache set, the previews it makes are kept in a Sollestro Previews folder beside the photos, so the next run is quicker. Earlier versions of Resolve still use one new timeline.
- FixedSubtitles with DaVinci Resolve 21.1.1 and later: Resolve now makes subtitles in the background, and Sollestro waits for them to finish before reading them, so B-roll Cutaways, Build Transcripts and AI Edit read the speech on a timeline that has no subtitles yet.
- NewAI on your computer: Sollestro's AI now runs entirely on your computer, with no AI account, key or per-job charge. Model Packages downloads one model family, Qwen3.5 / 3.6, in three sizes (35B A3B, 9B and 4B), checks every file and says which size suits your computer. One download can be chosen for both the Analysis Model and the Editing or Selection Model. Each job is sized to the graphics memory that is free when it starts. Windows includes engines for NVIDIA, AMD and Intel graphics; Apple Silicon Macs need macOS 13 or newer.
- NewBriefs and prompts: The Prompt Builder has three template buttons: AI Edit Template, B-roll Cutaways Template and AI Selection Template. Each puts a fill-in brief in the message box, and hints you leave untouched are removed when you press Send. The gold AI Edit and AI Selection buttons analyse anything new, build the prompt from everything you wrote and run the job unattended. AI Edit Only and AI Selection Only use the Edit Prompt exactly as it is.
- NewGenre knowledge and learning: 61 Videography Knowledge and 51 Photography Knowledge genre files come in your Training Data folder (Documents/Sollestro by default). Load the one closest to the job: Sollestro needs one before it analyses, edits or selects, and uses it wherever your brief is silent. Active Learning remembers standing "always" and "never" preferences from your briefs, announces each one in the Log and can undo it. Learn My Style (video) and Learn My Selection Style (photo) save your style as a file you can reuse.
- ImprovedVideo: AI Edit plans the shape of the film first, then matches clips to each moment and cuts them, following the shooting order within each part of the film and avoiding repeated clips. Clips longer than two minutes, interviews included, are analysed in one-minute parts with sentences kept whole. Speech in your Speech Bins is read from Resolve's subtitles and cut on whole sentences. Build Subtitles (formerly Build Transcripts) makes subtitles for the timeline open in Resolve, on a hidden track. A Shoot Summary of the whole shoot, a clip guide and the Judge Me review are saved in your Analysis Cache.
- ImprovedB-roll Cutaways, rebuilt: It reads what is said, and when, from the open timeline's subtitles, creating hidden ones if there are none, so nested, compound and multicam clips on V1 work. It keeps the speaker on camera for the lines that matter, about every 20 to 40 seconds of talking unless your prompt says otherwise, and fills the rest with 2 to 5 second shots that fit what is said, on the first empty video track above V1. Name the moments to keep on camera, paste exact subtitle lines under Subtitle lines on camera, or ask for no gaps. Clips not yet on the timeline are used first.
- ImprovedBeat Sync: Auto Detect reads a track's tempo and first beat, or you type your own, with the first beat as a Resolve timecode. Each cut runs 1 to 4 times the beat count you choose (1, 2, 4 or 8 beats), with no gaps between cuts. The film runs as long as the song unless your brief sets a length, and the music goes on the first audio track below your clips' own sound.
- ImprovedPhoto selection: AI Selection reads the shoot in shooting order, groups similar frames into series and decides how many frames each moment deserves; a number in your brief overrides it. A stopped selection resumes when you run it again with the same prompt and model. Find specific photos marks only the photos you ask for, purple unless you name another colour. Highlights marks a small hero set blue with five stars. Undo Marks restores the marks from before the last AI run. Learn from my corrections reads the marks you changed. For weddings, a description of the groom is saved after analysis to help tell him apart.
- NewPhoto tools: Straighten Photos (Resolve source) levels the photos of a bin on one new timeline in shooting order, using a model trained on professionally straightened photos; your photo files are never changed. Resize Photos makes smaller copies of any folder in a Resized subfolder, as JPEG, PNG, TIFF or WebP, keeping the capture details and colour profile.
- NewRunning a job again: When you run AI Edit, B-roll Cutaways, AI Selection or Highlights again on the same material within 24 hours, Sollestro reads your latest prompt and may loosen a few of its own working rules for that run only, naming each one in the Log.
- ImprovedReliability: If Sollestro cannot start, it shows a message and saves a report (Sollestro_v31_startup_error.log). If it closed while drawing its window, the next launch switches to a safer drawing mode by itself. Only one Local job runs at a time, so two jobs never slow each other down.
- Not in betaNot in this beta: Re-editing a range of shots, Adapt Prompt, Double-check keepers and the coverage report are not available in Sollestro 3.1 Beta.
- KnownKnown limitations: The installers are not code-signed yet: on Windows choose More info, then Run anyway; on a Mac, open the app once, then click Open Anyway in System Settings > Privacy & Security. A detected tempo can be half or double the real one, so type the BPM if the cuts miss the beat. AI Selection and Highlights work on Media Pool bins, not Photo page albums; Straighten Photos works on both, with albums needing DaVinci Resolve 21.1.2 or later. Intel Macs are not supported. The AMD and Intel graphics engines and the Mac build are new in this beta. There is no in-app update notice yet, so check this page for new versions. Review every timeline and selection before delivery, and send your saved Log to hello@sollestro.com if something goes wrong.
